Winter Classes – Now Registering!!

The Screenplay Workshop classroomRegistration for our Winter session has begun!

Our workshops are for all levels: beginners through professionals. Classes are highly interactive, jam-packed with information, and a ton of fun!

SCREENWRITING FUNDAMENTALS
Learn in 5 weeks everything you must know to write a screenplay.

Big Alumni News – Oprah Winfrey Network & Academy Nicholl Competition!!

Nutshell Technique book coverKat Candler is the new showrunner for season 3 of Ava DuVernay’s Queen Sugar on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network! Kat was already an experienced writer/director when she took The Screenplay Workshop in 2009. Her feature film Hellion(starring Juliette Lewis and Breaking Bad‘s Aaron Paul) played in competition at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival and is available on Netflix. Kat joined Queen Sugar in Season 1. Read more about her appointment to showrunner in Deadline.

Louise Lynch advanced to the semifinals of the 2017 Academy Nicholl Fellowship with her screenplay God’s Law! She was also an Austin Film Festival semifinalist.

Alumni whose scripts were honored as Second Rounders at Austin Film Festival (AFF’s term for quarterfinalists) include Karey Green, Shruti Saran, Katherine Craft, Joyce Harlow, and Liz Belile who was also a finalist at Oaxaca Film Festival.

Carol Ikard was a quarterfinalist in Final Draft’s Big Break competition.
