Nutshell Technique – Read All About It!

Nutshell Technique book cover

The film world is taking notice of screenwriting expert Jill Chamberlain and lining up to learn more of the lessons laid out in her groundbreaking book The Nutshell Technique: Crack the Secret of Successful Screenwriting (University of Texas Press). The book is available online and in bookstores including Bookpeople in Austin and L.A.’s Writers Store.

Jill and her book were featured recently in Creative Screenwriting magazine. Editor Sam Roads said about the book, “it’s a clever, fresh way of analyzing structure. I’ve added The Nutshell Technique to my own writing toolbox.”

The interview, which is available at http://creativescreenwriting.com/nutshell, features Chamberlain sharing valuable material, including:

– the secret to how to create an ending that both surprises and satisfies an audience
– the critical difference between a story and a situation, which is a concept that eludes even experienced writers
– examples of her exclusive story “Nutshell”: the schematic she invented to diagram the central story of films

Jill and her book were also recently featured in Austin Monthly magazine and on KOOP Radio’s Writing on the Air.

The Nutshell Technique is a revolutionary screenplay structuring method Jill invented and the cornerstone of The Screenplay Workshop’s curriculum. To get a sense of what a profound difference the Nutshell Technique makes, please check out the book trailer, featuring screenwriters who have worked with Jill and applied the method to their own work:
